What & WhyIn 1998, Sydney Pportable Ride Ooperators was formed to address issues that arose from the adoption, by WorkCover (NSW), of AS 3533 as the regulation for the operation of amusement devices in NSW. SPRO was initially Sydney based. With the broadening of membership to all the Eastern States & South Australia, it was felt that a name change was required to reflect the diversity of members, but to retain the identity and purpose of the group. By a vote in November 2001, the majority of members favoured the name Australian Amusement Association, with the structure being autonomous state based groups (A.A.A.-NSW: A.A.A.-Vic: A.A.A.-SA etc) from the executives of which would be drawn a national executive. | |
